We have an addition to the family, and no, it’s not a sibling for Sydney. It’s a new blog!
It seems like every traveler and traveling family have their own blogs now, but you rarely see any blog posts from that of the children being dragged around the world by their wander-crazed parents. All families interested in long term travel worry about their kids and have no idea of the impact of such an unconventional decision will have on them. Will they fall behind in school? Will they be lonely? Will they be excited? We all assume that they will greatly benefit from the experience, but will they really? Well, now we will find out exactly how a child feels being dragged around the world for two years because we are going to have our 7-year old daughter blog about it on her own website. That’s right; our first grader is now a blogger!
We currently have her write every evening for homework and most of those writings get thrown away, which is a shame. So now we are going to have her type (really slowly) a blog on a topic of her choice. We will assist with spelling and offer suggestions for improved grammar, but what she writes will be her own words. I think over the next couple of years we will get to see what impact long term travel has had on her and how she feels about it. And hopefully this will be a great resource for other families looking to do the same.
