Church of the Holy Sepulchre
This church is said to be located on the site that Jesus was crucified and is also said to contain the tomb in which Jesus was buried. The church is considered one of the most holy sites for many Christians and the building is shared by several Christian churches. This has caused disagreements and has led to all out brawls.

Mount of Olives
The Mount of Olives is named after the grove of olive trees that once covered its slopes. The mount has been used as a Jewish cemetery for over 3,000 years and contains around 150,000 graves. It is also described as the place from which Jesus ascended to heaven marking it a very Holy place for Christians.

The Israeli Museum
One of our favorite places to visit in Jerusalem was the Israeli Museum. It contains artifacts from the area going back to early man. It also contained the Dead Sea Scrolls, which after taking a few photos I was reminded by the security guard that photos were not allowed.

Thank you. Jerusalem is an interesting place and you never know what you can find there. I wish we could have had a bit more time to visit Palestine, which would have been another interesting photo essay.
Great pictures, especially of the people – what is that guy wearing in the ninth picture down though, is it a hat made of hair? I’m not religious in the slightest but Jerusalem looks like a really interesting place to visit.
Amy, I have no idea what that hat is made out of. It looks like fur. I was told by someone that his hat is a status symbol showing that he is really high up in his religion. I have no idea if this is true, but the hat is not something you see everyday, even in Jerusalem.
